VHS are a small, independent company based in Queenstown, the brainchild of Ferris Fairbairn. He's a Brit gone native in NZ and a mate of ours through Vertigo Bikes. As you might expect, he's one of the good guys and a shredder in the bike park. VHS is all about making eco-friendly solutions and everything they make originates in New Zealand.
We've seen the development of the Slapper Tape right from the beginning and it's something we're proud to get behind now as a finished product. And as you might have guessed, we run it on our own bikes. We put a lot of work into designing Airdrop bikes to run as quietly as possible, and VHS is the icing on the cake. If all you want to hear is the buzz of a freehub and tyres schralping in the dirt, VHS is for you. And you don't have to take our word for it; you can watch KC Till riding his Edit in the park with VHS fitted. Or better yet, just listen...
VHS Slapper Tape comes in a classic 1980's VHS video style box and consists of a single 350mm long strip. It's a natural rubber material with air-filled pockets on the top side that provide the sound-damping properties. The underside has a 3M adhesive strip which has been comprehensively tested on various frame finishes. You can cut the strip to length with scissors or a stanley knife and use it on different parts of the bike. We've found a good length on the chainstay leaves enough left over to cover a couple of different areas.
Available in the classic VHS box or we'll fit it for you when you buy a frame or bike. Only £22.
Can we say a big thanks to Ferris at VHS for sorting us out and being a general good dude, KC for being good at riding bikes and Paul at Interrobang Studios for the Edit. What a team!
Ed is the owner of Airdrop Bikes. A former web and graphic designer, he sacked off his job one day and decided to start up a bike brand.

Rockshox recently released the Pike DJ to the new Electric Red colour. We like to make sure that we keep our bikes up to date, so we took the opportunity to give the Fade Core a bit of a refresh.
